Comics Classes at Dudley’s Bookshop Cafe

Welcome to Comics Classes at Dudley’s Bookshop Cafe!

comics at dudleysComics Classes at Dudley’s! This is an after school class from 3:30 to 5. It meets on Monday and Friday afternoons upstairs at the Dudley’s Bookshop Cafe. We’ll cover every stage of comic book development, from crafting story arcs, to character development, to layouts, pencils, inking and lettering. Making comics is a wonderful way to express yourself. No matter what your skill level or interest, Isaac Peterson gives you the techniques you need to make telling your story simple and fun. This is an after school program but all ages are welcome. Isaac creates a safe space for you to express your creativity.

Isaac Peterson has been teaching art and illustration for fifteen years in New York City and Oregon. You can read some of his student reviews on the portfolio page. Isaac is a member of the Society of Illustrators and the Art Student’s League. His comics and illustrations have appeared in numerous publications, and he has published two children’s books. Supplies for Class

Use this button to go to the supplies list! Please note the priority column. You will really enjoy the class if you only purchase the high priority supplies. The medium priority supplies will add to the expense but they will also unlock new levels of technique. The high priority supplies form the perfect coffee shop kit. Preloaded ink pens are perfect for portable drawing. The full kit is a perfect home studio kit. You can also get most of this stuff at Michael’s here in town, but Blick is definitely the cheapest source (bristol board for comics is $30 at Michaels! on my list it is only $9).

Please attend class even if you are missing some supplies! There will always be stuff on hand to share so that you can progress your story. Also make sure you always have a sketchbook. These are usually pretty expensive and I tend to go through them pretty fast, so lately I’ve been using Mead Composition books from the dollar store to work through my ideas, but your choice of sketch book is up to you.
