wait this word doesn’t exist?

I use obliviate and obliviation all the time in my writing as the verb form of oblivion. After searching for these words on dictionary.com I now realize these words don’t actually exist. I should do the right thing and edit them out of my book, but I love them. is it ok to coin a word if you use it consistently in your writing? I kind of think it would be a loss to remove it.

Ha ha. That’s great, those are great words, they SOUND like they should exist…you are such a good writer. You know Shakespeare made up words and so did the Apostle Paul
You have skunked me on vocabulary, I love it when I come across a word I don’t recognize like that one you used at the start of your novel started with a p, very cool word, can’t think of how to spell it right now, haven’t had my coffee
